Tonya Ugoretz leads PwC’s Cyber and Risk Innovation Institute, where she helps leaders build cybersecurity amid rapid technological change. After a 24-year career at the forefront of U.S. law enforcement and national security, she brings an intelligence-driven approach to strengthening resilience in the private sector.

Tonya retired from the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) as the Bureau’s most senior intelligence analyst and the first to lead its intelligence program. She broke barriers as the first FBI analyst to serve as the FBI Director’s daily intelligence briefer; to oversee cyber policy, intelligence, and industry engagement; and to serve as acting head of an FBI operational division. She also helped guide the FBI’s adoption of AI as a member of its AI Executive Board. In all these roles, she helped elevate the role of intelligence in executive decision-making. 

Tonya served as the first Director of the multiagency Cyber Threat Intelligence Integration Center (CTIIC) under the Office of the Director of National Intelligence, where she briefed White House officials at least weekly on emerging cyber threats. In this and subsequent roles, she led analytic and technical experts through a period marked by ground-breaking cyber incidents such as the NotPetya, WannaCry, SolarWinds, and Colonial Pipeline intrusions. 

Tonya's career includes multi-year assignments with the CIA’s Counterterrorism Center, the National Intelligence Council, and U.S. Customs and Border Protection; and she is the recipient of numerous awards. At PwC, she continues her commitment to translating complex risk into clear, actionable insight for leaders at every level.
